Alice Suzanne (Beardsley) Atwood passed away January 21, 2018 in Boise. Sue was born September 21, 1928 in Batavia, NY, the only child of Roger Romaine Beardsley and Eleanor (Nell) Watson Page Beardsley. She had older half-siblings, William Watson Page and Mary Ellen Page. When Sue was 8 years old, her father died. She and Nell moved from Batavia, to Weiser, Boise and Seattle, and then settled back in Nell’s hometown of Weiser.
Sue graduated from Weiser High School in 1946 and from the University of Idaho in 1950. She enjoyed the Delta Gamma Women’s Fraternity, making many lifelong friends and memories. In 1951, Sue married Richard E. Johnson, making their home in Weiser where they raised 5 children; they were later divorced. She was an active swim, baseball, golf, tennis, and PTA Mom, supporting her children’s many activities.
Sue enjoyed golf, reading, crossword puzzles, bridge and bowling. In 1983, Sue married Alan F. Atwood, who was originally from Lewiston, and joined him in Pittsburgh, PA. After Alan retired from Joy Manufacturing in 1990, they traveled the world and then lived at Depoe Bay, OR, where they built a house on the cliffs overlooking Little Whale Cove. In 1994 they moved to McCall.
Alan passed away in 2002. Sue then moved to Boise but spent her summers in McCall. Sue is survived by her children: Stephanie Johnson, Nampa; Chris (Liz) Johnson, Boise; Beverly O’Fee (Ross), Salt Lake City; Tricia Johnson; and Stacey Davidson (Pete), Meridian. Grandchildren: Heather O’Fee, SLC; Jay O’Fee, SLC; Lindsey King; Rachel Weight, Meridian; and Scott Weight, La Pine, OR. She was preceded in death by her husband, Alan; brother, Bill Page; sister, Mary Ellen (Sitto) Smith; and her parents.
The family will hold a memorial of her life at 1:00 pm September 8 in Weiser at the Saint Luke’s Episcopal Church Parish Hall.
