Chester (Chet) Thorson, 49, of Weiser a well-known Idaho cattleman and Weiser civic leader, died Tuesday at a Boise hospital after a brief illness.
Mr. Thorson had been a member of the Idaho Association for the last 25 years and had served on numerous committees of the organization. At the time of his death he was a director of the State Association and was president of the Hitt Mountain Association of Washington County.
Mr Thorson served as president of the Weiser Roundup Association for about six years after the rodeo was reorganized following World War II, and for the last several years he had been a director of the rodeo board.
Mr. Thorson was bom Oct 28 1903 at the present family home on Weiser River and had lived his entire lifetime in the Weiser area. He is survived by his wife Mrs Junia Thorson of Weiser; two sons, Freeland and Fred Thorson both at home; two daughters. Nancy and Karna Thorson both at home; his father. Fred Thorson of Weiser; brother, Lee Thorson of Weiser. and one sister. Miss Blenda Thorson of Weiser. Northam-Jones chapel is arranging services.
