I found out that my g-grandfather, David Edgar Johns bought the harness shop in 1921 when they moved into town from their farm. In 1935 he became a member of the Weiser City Council and served until his death in 1948.
WEISER (Special) — David Edgar Johns, 72, a resident of Weiser since 1905, died at 10:15 p.m. Tuesday at his Weiser home. Mr. Johns operated a leather goods store in Weiser which bears his name. He was a member of the Baptist church. Surviving are his wife, Alice Johns, Weiser; two sons, Earl Johns of Weiser and Bernard Johns of Boise; two daughters, Mrs. Howard Cousins of Weiser and Mrs. Frank Luhr of Caldwell, and one brother, T. J. Johns, Miami, Fla. Services are being arranged by the Northam-Jones Chapel.
