Sept. 10, 1930 – Feb. 24, 1989
McCALL – Grace (Sargent) Townley, 58, of McCall, passed away Friday, Feb. 24, 1989, in a Sacramento, Calif., hospital of natural causes.
Memorial services will be held at 1:30p.m. Sunday, March 5, at Rossmoor in Walnut Creek, Calif. Local services are also pending in McCall. Private interment burial will be in Weiser, Idaho.
Mrs. Townley was born Sept. 10, 1930, at Condon, Ore., a daughter of Floyd and Dora Sargent. She graduated from Weiser High School in 1948 and the University of Oregon in 1952. She married Jim Townley on Oct. 8, 1953, at Weiser, where they both taught until 1956. They moved to Walnut Creek, Calif., and taught in Mt. Diablo Unified School District, until retiring in 1986 and moving to McCall.
She was a member of the First Church of Christ Scientist at Walnut Creek, president of the McCall chapter of AAUW, and county chairwoman of the Valley County (Idaho) Democratic Party.
Mrs. Townley was a devoted mother. She was also an avid golfer and skier.
Survivors include her husband, Jim Townley of McCall; a son, Gregory Townley of Concord, Calif.; a daughter, Amy Nann of Auburn, Calif.; a brother, Gene Sargent of Troy, Ore.; and a sister, Vesta Billick of Eugene, Ore.
The family suggests that memorials may be made to a favorite charity.
