Duke taught and coached football, basketball and baseball at New Plymouth High School until 1957. He was then hired by Weiser High School as a teacher and coach.
He met and married the former Margaret McAuley in 1952. Together the couple taught at Weiser High School until their retirement.
Duke was an avid hunter and fisherman, and spent as much time as he could enjoying the outdoors.
He was a member of St. Agnes Catholic Church, an active member of the Weiser Kiwanis, and a lifetime member of Elks Lodge #1690 of Ontario, Ore.
Survivors include his wife of 47 1/2 years, Margaret of Weiser; his mother, Josephine Duclos of Lewiston; four sisters, Bernice and Clarence Biffner of Lewiston, Eleanor Uhlenkott of Lewiston, Evelyn Gerkensmeyer of Spokane, Wash., and Barbara and Mick Wimer of Lewiston; a brother, Robert and Wilma Duclos of Post Falls; a special nephew and his wife, Bob and Debbie Wheeler and their children Chris and Chad
Port Angeles, Wash.; and several other nieces and nephews.
The family suggests memorials be made in his name to the St. Agnes Building Fund, 214 E. Liberty, Weiser 83672; or to a favorite charity.
