-Owned by Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Peacock.
-Purchased by D.E. (David Edgar) Johns and his son Earl (Lester Earl Johns) in 1944.
-Changed the name to the Johns Building.
-They then moved their Harness Store into the building and expanded into Johns Leather Goods Company.

Business Property Sold at Weiser

(The Statesman Idaho Wire)

WEISER—D. E. Johns and Sons have purchased the business building known as the “Peacock Block” and owned for many years by Mr. and Mrs. Charles F. Peacock. The structure is located on South State and Commercial Streets.

D.E. Johns and Sons, who are engaged in the harness and saddle repairing and manufacturing business, according to Earl Johns, junior member of the firm, will occupy part of the building.

Charles Peacock Of Weiser Dies

WEISER (Special) — Charles Filmore Peacock, 78, a resident of the Weiser community since 1918, died at the Weiser Memorial Hospital Tuesday morning following a brief illness.

Mr. Peacock was born Sept. 12, 1871, in Adams county, Illinois, and came to this area from Clayton, Illinois. He engaged in fruit farming and shipping. Upon retirement, he was active in real estate and insurance business. At the time of his death, he was engaged in writing fire and casualty insurance.

He was a member of the Masonic order and the Odd Fellows lodge for over 50 years and was a Knight Templar, also. Mr. Peacock took an active interest in community affairs and served 12 years as a city councilman.

Services will be Wednesday at 2:30 p. m., at the Northam-Jones Chapel, with the Rev. F. J. Poague officiating. Final rites will be at Clayton, Illinois, with the Masonic lodge in charge. Survivors include his wife, Oma; a son, John, a Kellogg, Idaho attorney; a brother, E. O. Peacock, of Mt. Sterling, Illinois; a sister, Mrs. Tena Moore, of Blue Springs, Missouri, and two grandsons.
