When a local business has been open for over 30 years, you know they’re doing something right. In this week’s Made in Idaho, we found a place that fits that profile, People’s Furniture in Weiser.

You’ve probably seen the commercials.

“Hi, I’m Sally here at People’s Furniture. We’re homegrown and locally owned. We have everything to make your house a home,” said VP of Marketing and Merchandising at People’s Furniture, Sally Frye during a commercial for the business.

Believe it or not, Sally Frye has been featured in commercials for her family’s business for over a decade now.

“It’s really fun to see their reactions that I’m actually here,” exclaimed Frye.

Opened in 1988, People’s Furniture has been in the same building in the heart of Weiser for 32 years now. Though Sally’s mother Sue was the original owner of People’s Furniture, it was Sally’s grandfather Wade who got the building.

“He traded my grandma’s pink Cadillac for some consignment furniture and Parma Furniture was born, then this building was purchased in 1988, and People’s Furniture was born,” said Frye.

So who do they cater to? I guess the question is who DON’T they cater to?

“We don’t have a real specific client that we market to, it’s everyone. And we have a really really vast inventory of flooring, appliances, all types of furniture, mattresses, and we have the ability to deliver right away,” said Frye.

But the number one best seller they say they offer? That’s hometown service.

“That’s what makes us really special, I mean, you’re working with us, you’re talking with us, we’re not a box store. When you have something, questions or comments, concerns, you talk to us,” laughed Frye.

Speaking of hometowns, People’s Furniture couldn’t be more proud to be a prominent part of the town of Weiser.

“The reason we’re here today is because of the great community we live in. They support us and we really like to go the extra mile to support them through the schools and athletics and different non-profits that they have and it’s really nice to be able to give back to what they’ve given us,” proudly said Frye.
