Street Name Changes

In 1904 Weiser was experiencing growth – so to better organize the traffic flow, they changed the majority of street names.

When you went to work you lived on a street with a familiar name and when you came home it had changed to a different street name. This was especially confusing to those that had stopped for “a few” on the way home.

Ordinance No. 94: Renaming Streets in Weiser

Street Name Changes

Be it ordained by the Mayor and Council of the City of Weiser:

Section I:

A. The name of Second Street is hereby changed to State Street.

B. The portion of Commercial Street east of State Street is hereby changed to East Commercial Street, and the portion west of State Street is hereby changed to West Commercial Street.

C. The portion of Eoff Street east of State Street is hereby changed to East Idaho Street, and the portion west of State Street is hereby changed to West Idaho Street.

D. The portion of Perrault Street east of State Street and Main Street is hereby changed to East Main Street, and the portion west of State Street is hereby changed to West Main Street.

E. The portion of Watlington Street east of State Street up to First Street is hereby changed to East Court Street, and the portion west of State Street is hereby changed to West Court Street.

F. The portion of Rahm Street east of State Street is hereby changed to East Liberty Street, and the portion west of State Street is hereby changed to West Liberty Street.

G. The name of Park Street is hereby changed to East Park Street, and the portion of Bruce Street west of State Street is hereby changed to West Park Street.

H. The name of First Street is hereby changed to First Street East; Walker Street is hereby changed to Second Street East; Mont Street is hereby changed to Third Street East; Remington Street is hereby changed to Fourth Street East; Nora Street is hereby changed to Fifth Street East; Mill Street is hereby changed to Sixth Street East; Elm Street is hereby changed to Seventh Street East; Walnut Street is hereby changed to Eighth Street East; Chestnut Street is hereby changed to Ninth Street East; Monroe Street is hereby changed to Tenth Street East; Second Avenue is hereby changed to Eleventh Street East; Fifth Street is hereby changed to Twelfth Street East; Water Street is hereby changed to Thirteenth Street East; Third Street is hereby changed to First Street West; Fourth Street is hereby changed to Second Street West; Fifth Street is hereby changed to Third Street West; Sixth Street is hereby changed to Fourth Street West; Seventh Street is hereby changed to Fifth Street West; Eighth Street is hereby changed to Sixth Street West; the portion of Watlington Street between First Street and Main Street is hereby changed to Temple Street; Washington Street is hereby changed to East Washington Street.

Section II:

All ordinances and parts of ordinances in conflict herewith are hereby repealed.
