Weiser High School

Weiser High School has a long and interesting history:
1899 – first WHS Graduating Class
1905 – new High School Building build at XXX East Gallager Street.
1929 – moved into the vacated Hooker Hall, the Intermountain Institute’s largest  building. The old High School Building was repurposed as the East Side Grade School.
1967 – moved to a new location, which sits across Paddock Avenue from Hooker Hall and the Intermountain Institute buildings, and into a brand new building.

1899 COMMENCEMENT
Graduation Exercises to Take Place at Opera House Friday
The first graduation exercises of the Weiser High School will be held at the Opera House Friday evening. A very interesting program has been prepared and will be rendered by the graduates: Misses Mary Zilla Harper, Harriet Hunt Smith, Katharine Galloway, and Olive Anderson Jeffreys. Miss Minnie Richardson, Miss Beulah Haas, Miss Hixon, and Mrs. J.R. Numbers are taking part in the exercises.
It is unnecessary for the SIGNAL to suggest that everyone interested in Weiser’s future should be there. The Weiser public schools must be a little better than those of any other town in the state. No other thing has so much weight with prospective settlers as the local school. In our town, which, by reason of its perfect location, glorious climate, railroad facilities, and other natural advantages, is bound to be preeminently a residence city, the very best school advantages must be offered. This position in the van is soonest obtained and most easily kept when parents and friends show interest enough in our schools to visit them steadily and often.
